Experiential Learning...
We had doubts whether a seed is a living thing? So, what I suggested to the children was..."Why don't we find out?" We decided to grow our own green bean seeds (a pocket garden) and record our observations on a daily basis.
We also considered growing them in different environments to find out if it affects the growth process. At the end of their observations, we were able to talk about the various characteristics of living things and were became more curious to find out more about various types of plants.
All of these questions were raised by 3A children during our knowledge building lesson. It's amazing to be in classroom filled with mind blowing questions and truly exciting children with a whole world of ideas in them....

Brainstorming Ideas...
We started off our first compo for the year with a simple class activity followed by an idea generation task. After which, 3A children had to come up with a word bank of adjectives and adverbs for the introduction of the story. Don't you think they are super engrossed?
Classifying things around us...
3A children started off grouping things around them without being told how to go about grouping them. They were left to group objects on their own and state why they had done so. This allowed them to see the purpose of classifying things and I was able to introduce the importance of classifying things. Here are some pics for your viewing pleasure...
